Issues and initiatives brought forth in 2019 have the potential to continue into 2020, which the feds will want to monitor. These issues and initiatives affect an array of areas including management and budget, IT and cloud, acquisition, workforce, and cyber. Many of these initiatives could make major changes to these areas if they are to go through.
For example, in the management and budget area, some agencies may be moving from their long-time home of the capital, due to the Trump administration pursuing policies to move federal jobs to other areas of the country. For acquisition, the General Services Administration (GSA) is working to create an e-marketplace in 2020 that will help agency acquisition shops more easily see what agencies are currently buying. In the area of cyber, the government struggled with a workforce shortage for cybersecurity and is working to refine the hiring process for cybersecurity professionals to correct the shortage.
