January 14, 2020

Mark Warner (D-Va.), Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman, has called upon the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to update security clearance processes that are out of date. The ODNI and OPM have been working through possible changes to update the security clearance system for over a year.

Warner expressed urgency to the ODNI and OPM writing: “I ask that you as the government’s security executive agent and suitability/fitness and credentialing executive agent, respectively, use this unique moment to realize sweeping reform and immediately issue guidance to implement this initiative.”
