Temporary Government Spending Bill Passed to Avoid Government Shutdown Through December 20th

November 15, 2019

As the House focuses on impeachment hearings, Congress is working to pass a spending bill that will keep the government from shutting down between now and December 20th. One of the main roadblocks in creating the new budget has been President Trump’s wishes for $8 billion in funding for the U.S.-Mexico border wall and the impeachment hearings.

Current funding will end next Thursday, pushing lawmakers to pass the temporary spending bill before the Thanksgiving holiday and move towards a full budget before the close of the year.
